IRS Stakeholder Liaison

IRS’s Stakeholder Liaison Stands for Outreach and Education IRS’s Stakeholder Liaison team is unique among its peers. While other functions are collecting taxes or examining returns, SL gives away its goods instead, providing tax professionals and the small business community the latest tax information and resources the IRS has to offer – and at a price that can’t be beat: for free. Outreach, Education and More – Stakeholder Liaison sponsors small business forums throughout the United States. These workshops provide opportunities for government organizations and small businesses to exchange ideas, gather information about current and emerging issues, and maintain a dialogue between the IRS and the small business community.  Last year, Stakeholder Liaison added another outreach service: IRS phone forums. Phone forums are large-capacity conference calls which provide comprehensive information on a particular tax topic, many by practitioner request. To see a schedule of both national and local phone forums, go to www.IRS.gov, keywords: IRS phone forums. One-stop Service -- Partners often contact Stakeholder Liaison specialists with a tax problem or even when they simply can’t find the tax information they’re looking for. SL specialists are trained to gather information as well as give it, and, if a question qualifies, the specialist adds it to SB/SE’s Issue Management Resolution System. The specialist then works with IMRS analysts to resolve the issue and report back to the individual or group that submitted it. A monthly IMRS summary report is posted to www.IRS.gov showing new, in process, and resolved issues. Read all about it – Stakeholder Liaison advertises newsletters written and produced specifically for the small business community. E-News for Small Businesses debuted last year and is designed to provide tax information for small business owners and self-employed individuals. Visit the News Room page at www.IRS.gov to subscribe.

Contact your local SL specialist for additional information regarding Stakeholder Liaison and IRS outreach. A directory is available at www.IRS.gov, keywords: Stakeholder Liaison Local Contacts.
