St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce Goals and Objectives

Employment Growth
External Goal

Goal: Positively impact the number of private sector jobs in St. Johns County
Background: The latest report (2011) indicates total private sector jobs in the County were 46,616.

Measurements:
Year 1 - The next report will be for the year ended 2012. Our goal is to increase the number of private sector jobs in the County by 2%, or to a total of 47,548 (2012 report). 
Year 3 - The next two years our goal is to continue to see job growth in the County at least 2% per year. 
Year 5 – The following years our goal is to begin to see job growth in the County at 2.5% per year. 

Recognizing the dynamic environment in which this metric resides, we will compare the percentage change in total private sector jobs in St. Johns County to that of the State of Florida and the United States as a whole to measure our progress.

Wage Growth
External Goal

Goal: Positively impact the private sector wage rates in St. Johns County
Background: The private sector average wage in St. Johns County for 2011 was $35,954. 

Measurements:
Year 1 - Our goal is to increase the average private sector way in the County to $36,676, an increase of 2% (2012 Report)
Year 3 – The next two years our goal is to continue to see wage growth in the County at least 2% per year. 
Year 5 – The following years our goal is to begin to see wage growth in the County at 2.5% per year. 

Recognizing the dynamic environment in which this metric resides, we will compare the percentage change in total private sector jobs in St. Johns County to that of the State of Florida and the United States as a whole to measure our progress.

Commercial Tax Growth
External Goal

Goal: Positively impact the commercial tax base in St. Johns County. A long term goal is to have Commercial property represent 25% of the total taxable value
Background: For the year 2011, the total taxable value of all Real Property in St. Johns County is $16,743,929,935. Commercial property (which consists of Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural) has a taxable value of $1,957,205,029, or 11.69% of the total.

Measurements:
Year 1 - The next report will be for the year ended 2012. In next years measure, we will include tangible personal property as well as real property. The goal for the year ended 2012 is 15%.
Year 3 – The data available at this time will be the 2014 report. Our goal will be to have Commercial property represent 15.50% of the taxable value. 
Year 5 – The data available at this time will be the 2016 report. Our goal will be to have Commercial property represent 16.50% of the taxable value.

Membership Revenue Growth
Internal Goal

Goal: Increase revenues derived from Chamber membership dues

Measurements:
Year 1 - The FY 2013 Budget sets a goal for Chamber Membership Dues, an increase of 1.2% over prior year actual (pre-audit). 
Year 3 – 3.0% growth in Membership Revenues in each of the next 2 fiscal years. 
Year 5 – 3.5% growth in Membership Revenues in each of the following 2 years.

Non-Membership Revenue Growth
Internal Goal

Goal: Increase Chamber revenue derived from sources other than membership dues

Measurements:
Year 1 - The FY 2013 Budget sets a goal for total revenues other than membership dues. 
Year 3 – 3.0% growth in non-membership revenue in each of the next 2 fiscal years. 
Year 5 – 3.5% growth in non-membership revenue in each of the next 2 fiscal years.

Cash Reserve Growth
Internal Goal

Goal: Increase the Chamber’s cash reserves until they equal one year of operational expenses 

Measurements:
Year 1 – Based on the budgeted income for FY 2013, the goal for September 30, 2013 is to increase Cash and Investments by $1,226.
Year 3 – For each of the next 2 fiscal years, the goal is to increase Cash and Investments by $3,500 per year.
Year 5 – For each of the following 2 fiscal years, the goal is to increase Cash and Investments by $10,000 per year.

Chamber Member Growth

Internal Goal

Goal: Grow the Chamber's overall membership to 1,000 members
Background: The Chamber’s high point for membership was in 2005, with 1,383 members. The Chamber currently has approximately 793 members.

Measurements:
Year 1 – The goal for September 30, 2013 is to stabilize at 800 members.
Year 3 – The goal is to have 825 members by September 30, 2013.
Year 5 – The goal is to have 1000 members by September 30, 2015.

Increase Member Satisfaction
Internal Goal

Goal: Increase member satisfaction rates
Background: The survey done in October 2011 indicated that 90% of respondents felt they received value for their Chamber membership. The mean overall rating of the Chamber was 7.91 (on a 1-10 scale).

Measurements:
Year 1 – Improve respondents who feel they get value for their membership to 90% and the mean overall rating of the Chamber to 8.0. 
Year 3 – Improve respondents who feel they get value for their membership to 92% and the mean overall rating of the Chamber to 8.1. 
Year 5 – Improve respondents who feel they get value for their membership to 94% and the mean overall rating of the Chamber to 8.2.
