ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA - Limelight Theatre of St. Augustine announced the cast of its next main stage production--Duck Hunter Shoots Angel by Mitch Albom and directed by Lorraine Portman. This comedy, from the author of the New York Times bestselling books, Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven, is the story of two bumbling Alabama duck-hunting brothers who think they accidentally shot down an angel. Hailed by audiences as a comedy with a heartfelt message, the play follows the intersecting paths of the two guilt-ridden duck hunters, a depressed tabloid journalist, his reluctant photographer, their crazed boss, a shopgirl at a local Gasmart, a half-woman/half-alligator, and a ghost. The themes of redemption, race, media and north versus south are all explored in hilarious fashion, and the play features a surprise ending that few playgoers see coming.

Portman is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter and filmmaker who directs for theatre, television and film productions. She most recently directed Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for Actors with a Cause. She wrote, produced and directed an independent film, Saving Sophie, which played 26 film festivals and won 9 awards. Portman teaches playwriting, screenwriting and advanced screenwriting at Flagler College.
