Labor Force

St. Johns County’s labor force has grown more than 45% over the last 10 years. Indeed, the entire population of the county is growing. In addition to having 167,453 residents of its own, St. Johns County is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Area, which has a total population of more than 1 million people.

As a result, St. Johns County employers are able to draw from a large, diverse workforce. From a distribution standpoint, more than 4 million people -- a quarter of Florida’s population -- live within an approximately 2-hour driving radius of St. Johns County (including Jacksonville, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne-Palm Bay, Gainesville, Ocala and surrounding markets).

St. Johns County 2007 Unemployment Rate:  3.3%
