Employment Growth External Goal
Goal: Positively impact the number of private sector jobs in St. Johns County
Background: The total number of jobs in St. Johns County has been in decline since 2007. The latest report (2009) indicates total private sector jobs in the County were 45,501.
Measurements: Year 1 - The next report will be for the year ended 2010, therefore no action can be taken to impact this measurement. Our goal is to stop the loss of jobs in the County and keep the total number of private sector jobs stable at 45,501 (2010 report).
Year 3 - The next two years our goal is to begin to see job growth in the County at 2% per year. Therefore, the goal for the total number of private sector jobs (2012 report) will be 47,339 (depending on actual results of 2010 report).
Year 5 – The following years our goal is to begin to see job growth in the County at 2.5% per year. Therefore, the goal for the total number of private sector jobs (2014 report) will be 49,736 (depending on actual results of 2010 report).
Recognizing the dynamic environment in which this metric resides, we will compare the percentage change in total private sector jobs in St. Johns County to that of the State of Florida and the United States as a whole to measure our progress.
